HOW
IT ALL WORKS
Thanks
to the information gathered from the introductory
forms
and assessments, I am
able to create a personalized strength training routine,
as well as provide a smooth transition from your
current eating habits to a well rounded nutritional
plan – not a diet.
This allows me to offer my online clientele the same
quality of service that my in-person clients have
benefited from for the last 10 years.
STEPS
1. Upon payment verification from PayPal, I will
e-mail you comprehensive health history and lifestyle
information forms, as well as a 7-day nutrition log
to be completed and returned.
2.
Once the forms have been returned, you will have
the option of completing
your movement screen and
fitness tests with me live via Skype™,
or through the comprehensive series of instructional
videos
provided.
3. I will assess all of the information gathered
from the introductory forms, the fitness test and
the movement screen and create your individualized
program. At this time you will also receive access
to videos which demonstrate how to properly and safely
perform the exercises in your program.
4. Once you have received your personalized training
and nutrition programs, you will be asked to complete
weekly activity and nutrition logs, which will help
me to actively monitor your progress and obtain information
which can be used to further enhance your program.
5. Depending on the results of your progress logs,
I will adjust both your training and nutrition programs
as needed for the duration of the three-month cycle.
Of course, if I do not receive your weekly update,
I am unable to provide the most efficient and effective
path to success.
6. As part of your program, you will also receive
unlimited support through e-mail. Whether you have
a quick question about your program, or want to inquire
about my training philosophy, I will respond in a
timely fashion, preventing any disruption in your
training and ensuring you get the most benefit for
your money.
Testimonials
-Rod Cole-
Nate was my primary trainer when
I became a member at Revolution Fitness in July '07.
Although I had been a competitive
rowing athlete in university I desperately needed to
lose some weight and regain a
better level of fitness. I felt very much like a true
beginner as I had never regularly worked out at a gym.
The
first day Nate did a fitness evaluation and I quickly
felt at ease that
he would put
me on the right path. In the following weeks I got a
lot of encouragement and advice tips especially on nutrition.
I mainly did cardio to start and amazingly my weight
started to drop. After six months I had lost 30lbs (I've
since lost another 10lbs). Soon Nate had incorporated
weights into my programs and always learned something
about technique and my own body as well. I was especially
appreciative of the tips Nate supplied regarding weight
lifting for tall guys (I'm 6'4"). Also, for a few
months last year my left rotator cuff was acting up on
me but Nate had researched specific exercises to strengthen
those muscles as well as communicate with the chiropractor
to assist in my recovery.
Nate not only helped me lose some
weight and get back some fitness - he also helped me
to actually become more athletic to enjoy more sport
activities outside the gym. Last year I entered my first
5 km running event, went on a day long heli-skiing trip
and most recently joined the Argonaut rowing club to
row competitively once again. At 47 years old I'm in
the best shape of my life thanks to Nate's inspiration.
-Charlene Lokey-
"I met Nate nearly two years ago
when I was in the worst shape of my life. While being
25 lbs overweight may not
seem like a lot, it was the heaviest I had ever been for
a woman who had always led an active life. But the combination
of office work, poor food choices and occasional depression
had taken its toll. The turning point? When I couldn’t
climb a set of stairs without sharp agonizing pain punctuating
through my right knee (which had never bothered me until
this point).
When I worked out at the gym, Nate checked on my progress
and my training program adjusted accordingly. In months
I had noticed a remarkable change not only with my body,
but with my attitude. I was feeling like my old self again.
Then
disaster struck – Nate was leaving the gym
to return to his former career as a personal trainer. It
took a good three weeks’ worth of careful thinking – do
I stay with a gym that gives me the opportunity to continue
what I started, or stick with the one person who had been
with me every step of the way with encouragement, compassion
and a mental kick in the ass when needed? I’ll give
you two guesses and the first one doesn’t count.
I
have never looked back, only forward with Nate’s
guidance. He has taken my level of fitness to a point where
I never would have believed I could reach. I am stronger
now than 25 years ago during my peak track and field days.
I’ve lost more weight under Nate’s careful
tutelage, and I’m entertaining the crazy idea of
registering for my first figure competition. That’s
how much Nate has done for me.
For
a client who’s also an author, I shouldn’t
have any trouble finding the words to express how happy
and grateful I am to find such a person as Nate Jackson.
His dedication, hard work, his desire—his passion—to
teach others the best way to accomplish their goals, goes
way beyond the definition of ‘personal trainer’.
He’s your colleague, your guide and your conscience.
Hmm,
I guess I found the words after all!"
-James Kim-
I learned the importance of building
a foundation through mastering the basics. I started
working out as a beginner and now have the skills to
consistently stay fit and healthy.
Every
single session was fantastic. My life became more energetic
and healthy
in general. Not only
the physical
training, but also all the knowledge, education
and information Nate gave me helps me to stay fit and healthy. The customized
and organized program with necessary intensity was so efficient that it is
hard to duplicate on my own.”
-James Bradley-
As
a 35 year old, I don't consider myself "old".
I was in athletics in high school and kept very fit into
my 20's and early
30s. As I progressed
up the career ladder, I found out I didn't have the time
to dedicate to workout as frequently as I have but I
did manage to hit the gym 4-5 times a week. My diet consisted
of what many others did which was something quick and
hopefully not to bad for me. Then I got engaged and I
wanted to get back to where I was 3-4 years ago. So,
I started to train with Nathane for my wedding. I had
6 months to get into shape and I wasn't happy with the
results I was getting in the gym on my own. During our
first couple of training sessions, I could not believe
I was having trouble executing exercises that I thought
would be simple. My cardio level was ok but when we introduced
high intensity interval training, I struggled through
some of the sessions. During it all, Nathane coached
and supported me through the moves and helped me to build
up the strength in parts of my body that I had neglected
in my regular gym routine. Nathane helped me strengthen
my core, which I discovered made executing other exercises
easier. In addition, I sprained my foot and Nathane found
ways to keep me exercising while taking care of my energy.
The programs Nathane had me do were exciting and they
pushed me, but I always found a way to get to the goal.
As I progressed, Nathane kept finding new ways to challenge
me and I was always excited to see what was next. Our
gym sessions were always rewarding and I would keep that
momentum throughout the day. Nathane also has done a
great job coaching me on nutrition. Not only did I feel
I didn't have to eliminate everything from my diet, Nathane
provided advice on how to incorporate good nutrition
and found ways to make the food taste fantastic. Overall
I have found out how to challenge myself and keep setting
new personal goals and achieving them.
As I write this, I am 4 pounds from my target goal and have lost 15 pounds
(with 4 weeks to go!) and several inches around my body. My core is tighter
and I have better overall tone. My flexibility has increased and my body is
recovering quicker from the exercise routines. I absolutely love doing the
HIIT and enjoy maxing out the treadmill when I run. I've really become more
aware of the food I eat and have done a much better job of preparing meals
to take to work. Nathane is a fantastic coach and trainer. Every time I have
a question, he gets back to me to give me advice. I spend 12-14 hours between
work and commuting and if I can find this balance, anyone can. Whatever your
goal may be, Nathane can help get you to achieve it.
-Malcolm Dyke-
With
Nathane’s guidance over
the years, but especially in the past six months, I have
achieved great things. When I mentioned to Nathane the
one thing I didn’t want to do as I aged was to “shuffle” he
took it to heart and changed my programs accordingly.
My workouts have transitioned from an emphasis on losing
weight and building muscle, to a more functional style,
focusing on flexibility, balance and movement.
Who
would have thought that I would be doing movements like
the Turkish get-up,
Dumbbell
Windmills and most recently, one legged push ups? I couldn’t
even do a single push up six months ago! Most importantly
though Nathane has instilled in me that fitness is a
lifestyle, not something to do for a little while and
then give it up. I now work out regularly 4-6 times a
week. I accomplish day to day tasks with ease. I no longer
think about running up a couple flights of stairs, or
bending over to pick something up – I just do it.
Nathane
just doesn’t focus
on the physical though - he brings a wealth of knowledge
about nutrition, general, and mental health. I attribute
Nathane’s positive support and dedication to my
successfully beating cancer last year. He completely
changed my eating habits to the point now where I eat
simple, organic foods as much as possible. Studies have
shown that continuing to exercise, maintaining healthy
eating habits, and having a good support network are
contributing factors in curing not just cancer, but good
health in general.
I
wouldn’t be where
I am today without Nathane. He has become more than a
personal trainer
or a trusted advisor, he has become a friend.
Thanks,
Nathane – for
helping me enjoy life to the fullest!

I
began working out with Nathane in the late summer of
2004 after years(decades,
actually)
of negligible results while doing gym workouts on my
own. I'm one of those "skinny guys" who has
trouble gaining and maintaining weight, is spectacularly
lacking in motivation and is very ambivalent about the
entire gym experience.
Enter
Nate, who with his extensive experience in the field,
his positive and encouraging
demeanor and his dedication to assisting his clients
in the fulfillment of their goals, has made a drastic
change in my overall well-being. Over the course of the
past year Nate has helped me reshape my diet as well
as my body and, for the first time this past summer,
I enjoyed compliments from friends about my "new
look." It goes without saying that I feel a lot
stronger and healthier too. But perhaps the highest compliment
with which I can credit Nate is that after more than
a year of working out with him three times per week,
I'm still going to the gym (admittedly, still not my
favorite place in the world!) It's been hard work, but
I'm very pleased with the results.
Thanks, Nate!

Fitness Success Story Challenge
My energy levels were at all time
lows, having three young wonderful children I was fed
up with not having the necessary energy to be the father
I wanted to be. Also my doctor was getting concerned
about my blood pressure levels, and let me know that
if things didn't improve soon he was seriously considering
prescribing medication to treat it. I couldn't believe
things had gotten that out of control. My company had
a corporate program with GoodLife, and many of my co-workers
were encouraging me to join them at the club. I had joined
gyms before in the past, but never seemed to make it
a permanent part of my life.
As I joined GoodLife Union Station
in November I made a personal commitment to myself that
this time I was going to do it right. So when I had an
opportunity to sign up for 10 Personal Training sessions,
I never hesitated. That was one of the best decisions
I made in making this a lasting change. I have been very
fortunate to have Nathane Jackson as my Personal Trainer,
and his support and knowledge were far more than I ever
expected. He truly has been a wonderful mentor, and someone
I respect very much.
Nathane and I started out with simple
workouts, as I really had not been on a regular program
in over 10 years. We started out on the machines to get
back into it, and before I knew it we were lifting the
free weights on a regular basis. Nathane has always made
the workouts new and interesting. I don't think we have
ever done the same workout twice in the six months we've
been at it, and this has always helped keep things challenging
but yet fun.
Nathane always focuses on proper
technique, and I believe this has helped me in achieving
my goals quicker and avoiding injuries. I also wanted
to get my workouts in before I began my work day, so
that meant starting my day at 5a.m... I have to admit
on some of those cold winter mornings, it was knowing
that Nathane would be at the gym waiting for me that
gave me the motivation I required to get out of bed.
After being on my program for six
months now, I am thrilled with my progress. My strength
has more than doubled on many of the machines, but most
importantly my energy levels are like they were when
I was a teenager. This has been the biggest benefit in
making this lifestyle change, as being a father of three
young children, it is very important to me to be able
to give them my best. I've recently taken on being head
coach of my 8 year olds Select Hockey Team, and I feel
great being on the ice with the kids. On top of the added
energy, I also feel the pressure and stresses of the
job aren't as bad as they use to feel. I enjoy getting
to the gym for a quick break and the afternoon blahs
I used to experience have been replaced with a new sharper
awareness. Also, achieving my fitness goals has helped
build a new sense of confidence in all aspects of my
life, as I now believe that no task is too onerous, but
rather it is only a matter of tackling it one piece at
a time.
I realize now that achieving my
goal is not the end of my journey, but rather the beginning,
and this excites me. I look forward to doing things I
haven't done in a long time like jogging, water skiing,
and down hill skiing. Most of all I look forward to seeing
my kids tire out playing before I do! I don't feel I
could have achieved my fitness goals nearly as quickly
without the help of Nathane. He has not only been my
Personal Trainer and a wealth of information for the
past six months, but also a reliable source of support,
motivation, and quite frankly a wonderful friend. I sincerely
thank him for helping me achieve my goal, and I recommend
anyone serious about making a lifestyle change give serious
consideration to having a Personal Trainer help out on
this rewarding journey!

What is a Movement Screen?
A movement screen is a series of tests that I will instruct
you on how to perform, which consists of basic movements
that the average person should be able to carry out
with a full range of motion and without experiencing
pain.
The results of these tests indicate the areas of your
body that need the most attention, by pointing out
any asymmetries and faulty movement patterns you may
have.
Once these imbalances are located we will correct them
quickly and efficiently to make sure you will be in
a position to progress safely and stay injury free.
Any
personal trainer, whether online or in person, who
provides fitness instruction without a movement screen
is doing
their clients a great disservice.
